The Cornwall Local Plan: Planning to 2050 - drop in sessions
The Cornwall Local Plan: Planning to 2050
Can we create better places for everyone? With homes that are better
connected to shops, schools, things to do and work? Can we also improve our
natural environment?
Yes!
We’re writing a plan for how Cornwall will develop over the next 20 years –
which sets out what can be built and where.
To make that plan the best it can be, we need to know what it’s like to live
where you live and the changes you want to see. That’s vital because all our
places are different.
With your help, we can shape the rules for planning in Cornwall to protect
what’s most important to you and influence how our places change.
Building a plan
To understand what works now and what could be better, we need everyone to
have a say in what Cornwall’s future looks like.
It can be hard for people to find a home that’s right for them. That’s
because it’s different here: it can be more expensive to build homes, people
often earn less than in other parts of the country and we’re living in towns
and villages stretched across a large area.
If we’re to thrive, we need our rivers, coastline, woods and wildlife to
thrive too, which means our places need to adapt as the climate changes.
The Local Plan brings together data and views to create rules on everything
that makes up a place, from what to protect and how buildings are designed to
how we get around. It makes better plans for the places we live and work in.
A Local Plan tells the story of what our towns, villages, hamlets and
countryside are like now, and what we want them to be like in the future.
The opportunities
Building the right kind of homes for you, places you can afford to live, and
a choice of ways to get around – that’s what planning can do.
We want to treasure what’s most important to people across Cornwall, while
creating places that are fit for our changing world. This means making choices
– choices you can help make.
When and where?
We’re collecting information and views to help us write the plan, and you
can help. We'll be popping up across Cornwall from September to January, see
below to book a session near you.
Sessions
are drop in but to help us manage attendee numbers, please reserve your free
space.
With kind regards
