A38 eastbound and westbound: A38 Lean Quarry (Looe) to Trerulefoot Roundabout resurfacing - Overnight works

We’re undertaking resurfacing between A38 Lean Quarry (Looe) to Trerulefoot Roundabout carriageway. This will maintain and improve safety for everyone using the road, and reduce the need for any unplanned closures.

We’ll be working weeknights (Monday – Friday) between 8pm and 6am only. This is when there is least traffic on the road.

During the day and at the weekend the road will be open as usual.

Works information

Between 13 to 28 July, 8.30pm to 6am, we’ll close the A38 eastbound and westbound between Trerulefoot Roundabout and Island Shop. Well signed diversions will be in place:

  • Eastbound traffic via A390, A388 to A38 Carkeel Roundabout.
  • Westbound traffic via A374, A387 and B3252.
  • Eastbound local access via Island Shop eastbound entry slip will be maintained for Lean Quarry (Looe) junction and up to and including Menheniot.

Between 29 July and 21 August, 8pm to 6am, there will be overnight convoy working on the A38 westbound between Trerulefoot Roundabout and Lean Quarry (Looe). This means the main A38 carriageway is still open, but you will be taken past the working area behind a traffic vehicle at a reduced speed.

Whilst convoy working is in place, the traffic management will also involve lane closures, along with associated side road, right-turn, gap and junction closures. These will require small local diversions, which will change as we move along the road. The diversion routes will be well signed.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journeys.

Dates may change at short notice due to poor weather conditions or operational reasons. If we’re unable to complete our work as planned, we may need to continue beyond the dates stated above.
